PIKE Soccer cruised to a 1-0 victory over Sigma Chi in the UCSD Men's AAA Intramural Soccer League. A relentless attack based on sound defensive play allowed the boys to easily maintain control of the tempo throughout the duration of the match. "PIKE looked much more aggressive, physically stronger, and better trained than their IFC counterpart," noted an unaffiliated spectator.
Sigma Chi were awarded a controversial penalty kick in the first half, however, PIKE goalkeeper Mike Basile kept his composure under pressure and was able to make the clutch save. Brother Oscar Mancia netted a goal for the Garnet and Gold in the second-half to give his teammates the much-deserved "W" they were looking for.
PIKE Soccer continues its IM matchplay, in preperation for the hotly-contested IFC Soccer Championship tournament, next Monday against the Red Devils at 8PM on RIMAC field. PIKE Soccer looks to sustain the positive form it has acquired over the past few weeks and take the IFC tournament by storm. "We can only go up from here baby," said Senior Co-Captain Steven Gardner.
