Why Rush PIKE?
We, the men of Pi Kappa Alpha, come from different and diverse backgrounds, yet we are all bound by very similar ideals. We all possess four characteristics that we personify in our actions, beliefs, and values: Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen. These qualities comprise S.L.A.G., the four fundamental principles behind the Fraternity. It is these qualities that have brought us seven UCSD Inter-Fraternity Council Chapter of the Year awards, six consecutive IFC Sports banners, Greek Man of the Year awards, and various other chapter and individual accolades throughout our relatively young history at UCSD.
The men of Pi Kappa Alpha are visible in all aspects of campus life and make up the best of the best. Since 1997, PIKES have held numerous distinguished positions at UCSD such as Associated Students President, Vice President, Chief Editor of the campus newspaper. In addition, PIKES have consistently proliferated the campus-wide athletic programs by earning titles such as the Captain and MVP of the basketball team, numerous NCAA, intercollegiate club athletes, and of course, by dominating the Inter-Fraternity Council sports competitions.
However, Pi Kappa Alpha is not simply an establishment of motivated gentlemen. It is also a resource, one that prepares our brothers for the future after college. We have already produced many successful men in the fields of law, technology/science, finance, and others whom are completing their training at top medical schools, business schools, and law schools in the country. There is no doubt that they benefited from the resources and the networking opportunities provided by the largest fraternity within the United States
Nationally, the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity has dominated the Greek scene over the past several decades. Since 1978, Pi Kappa Alpha has initiated more than 100,000 men throughout the United States and Canada. It has grown to become the largest international fraternity in the world. Some famous Pikes include: Bobby Bowden, Jeremy Piven, Ted Koppel, Horace Grant and Tim McGraw. Clearly, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity is an organization where the best men can let their talents and strengths shine. At the same time, these individuals are provided with the resources to grow as men to the best of their potential not only in their college years, but for the rest of their lives.
Once a PIKE, always a PIKE.
